birthday plane card

It was my nephew’s 2nd birthday and he adores planes, so I knocked up a quick plane card for him.

First, I drew a rough plane shape onto some paper for a template, and then used some paper that I got ages ago with Simply Homemade magazine, in red and blue, and cut around it.

Next, I cut an extremely rough cloud shape out of some plain paper, and glued both that and the plane to one of the blue Hobbycraft cards.

Finally, I made a little tag out of plain paper, and used the BasicGrey: Serenade Alpha stickers to spell out his name. Read the rest of this entry

a trio of birthday cards

The summer always comes with a flurry of birthdays in quantities too vast for me to make cards for everyone (at the moment, in any case). However, I did manage to make three for some members of my family.

First up is a sort of 3D-present-with-ribbons card which I made for my sister-in-law. I’m still making my way through the Hobbycraft card selection, which I’ve used for all the cards – this one used a pink one. Next, I cut out a square from a sheet of the Papermania: Rose Garden set, and used some adhesive foam pads to set it out from the card. I put a couple of ribbons through (cut out of new clothes) and then used the October Afternoon: Boarding Pass stickers to spell out ‘Happy Birthday’.

50 years scrapbook

Scrapbooking2

It was my mother’s 50th birthday recently, so I decided to put together a scrapbook with memories and photos of her life. It was an idea that only came to me about 3 weeks before the day, so realising I was cutting it fine, I emailed her siblings and friends for any photos and stories they had. They sent me some lovely pictures of her as a child, some from family visits to Cyprus and one phoned me with some memories of her as a teenager. As my mum had us at a young age, I really wanted to get some information about her before she was a mother. I spent a bit of time looking up dates, television shows and music from the decades when she was a child and teenager. Read the rest of this entry

bird card

Posted on

Just a short blog today – here is a wedding acceptance card I made a couple of months ago. I drew two bird shapes (freehand, because I’m lazy like that) on patterned paper, glued them to some cardboard and then stuck them on the card. I then used a needle to pull a ribbon through and tied it in a bow. And er, that was it really!
