tie purse

Posted on

Whenever I’m in a charity shop, I always have a rummage through the selection of old ties. Having acquired a few of the things, I figured I should probably start turning them into stuff.

Above is one I tried from the excellent book Making Stuff. You basically chop off the skinny end of the tie and fold it in on itself, turn it inside out, and then sew down the sides. Turn the right way again, add a button to the front and twist some embroidery thread through the pointy end for the closure.

I’m going to keep an eye out for projects involving ties so I can use some of the others in my collection!
